Windows is incredibly versatile if you know how to use it. We’ve put together our favorite 9 shortcuts, tips, and tricks to make your Windows experience as smooth and easy as possible.
1) Shake the window to minimize
This is one of my personal favorites. If you click and drag a window, you can shake it a bit – go, try it! All your other empty windows will be instantly minimized, giving you a chaotic free workspace.
2) Easily delete browser history
If you do not want to delete your browsing history through your browser settings, press CTRL + Shift + Del. This will take you directly to the menu!
3) Highlight the address bar
Speaking of browsers, everyone tries to highlight a long URL from the browser’s address bar to copy or delete? Why bother? Instead, just press F6, and the URL will be highlighted automatically. Magic
4) Forget CTRL + ALT + DEL
Most people will press CTRL + ALT + DEL as soon as the computer crashes and then immediately open the Task Manager. Instead, press CTRL + Shift + ESC to open the Task Manager directly. After all, if your computer crashes, it’s better to take a few steps less. You can, of course, open the Task Manager by right-clicking on the taskbar, but this way the task at hand is much faster.
5) God mode
Windows Master Control Panel or “God Mode”, a shortcut to access the control panel of all operating systems from within a single folder. To create a shortcut like this, create a new folder on your desktop (or elsewhere) and name it:
GodMode.
You can change the “Godmode” bit but make sure the full stop and the rest are the same. Once you rename it, the icon will change and you will have access to all the powerful features of Windows.
6) Enter the file name in the command line
Once you open DOS and try to execute a file, the most annoying thing is to type the whole file directory: C: LibrariesPictures, etc.
Instead, try dragging (dragging) the file directly to the command prompt, and the program will simply do it for you!
6) Go directly to the desktop
Perhaps this is what I use most often. Remember when Windows used a desktop icon in the taskbar? Okay, now you don’t need it, because you can just press WIN + D. If you don’t know, the WIN button is CTRL. Windows flagged button in the middle of ALT.
6) Name many files together
If you want to give files with the same name, select them all at once and click F2. Windows will add a (1) or a (2) to the end of each file name, so you don’t get confused.
9) Lock the computer immediately
If you leave your laptop among friends who have a tendency to delete Facebook data or if you just want to increase the security on your PC, it is a good habit to press WIN + L every time before you leave.
This will return your computer to its lock screen, which means you will need to know your password before any embarrassing Facebook moderators can post embarrassing statuses. However, this is different from logging out, it keeps all your windows and documents open.
