What are some signs of being mentally weak?

Saying things like, "I'm not scared of anything," or, "I didn't want that promotion anyway," doesn't necessarily mean you'reย mentally strong. In fact, there's a good chance you might just beย acting tough.
While actingย toughย may meet your needs in the short term by artificially boosting your ego or by getting other people to back off, it's not a good long-term strategy. In fact, aย new studyย conducted by psychologists at Rutgers University found that men who act tough may suffer serious consequences.
The study, published inย The Journal of Health Psychology,ย found that men who act tough visit doctors less often. They're also less forthcoming about their medical symptoms when they see a male physician. (Interestingly, these same men were more likely to choose a male doctor because they believeย male doctors are more competent than females).
Researchers suspect that delaying medical appointments and minimizing symptoms could be one of the reasons why men die, on average,ย five years earlier than women.
But clearly, it's not always just men who feel the need to act tough. Many women do, as well. Here are some signs you're just acting tough:
  1. You always hide in your comfort zone.
  2. You donโ€™t try new things because you fear failure.
  3. You give up easily because the tasks are too challenging.
  4. You complain a lot to the people around you.
  5. You are always looking at other peopleโ€™s lives and never working on yourself.
  6. You let society dictate your goals and dreams.
  7. You are a people-pleaser.
  8. You are afraid to voice your true opinions.
  9. You let people step all over you.
  10. You seek the easiest way out.
  11. You readily give up your morals or principles in exchange for something gratifying.
  12. You donโ€™t fight for what you want.
  13. You follow the herd.
  14. You make up excuses convincing yourself you canโ€™t accomplish the things you want to do.
  15. You engage in useless gossiping.

Mentally strong people, however, are interested in controlling themselvesย rather than the people around them. They're invested in regulating their thoughts, managing their emotions, and behaving productively, despite whatever circumstances they find themselves in.

Be a mentally strong person

If you're guilty of putting up a fake exterior that helps you feel tough, consider the toll it may take on your life. Invest inย building mental strength,ย so the way you feel on the inside matches how others see you on theย outside. As your mental strength increases, your desire to act tough decreases. Many people don’t recognize mental strength when they see it. Why?

I encounter many misconceptions about what it means to be mentally strong or weak.
Ironically, many of the behaviors often associated with weakness are actually a sign of mental strength. Our culture often values "toughness" over "true strength."
Acting tough is about external appearances. It involves creating a persona that convinces other people you're impervious to pain.
True mental strength involves working on your character.ย Mentally strong peopleย are willing to be vulnerable and quite often, people confuse their openness and honesty with frailty.

Being mentally weak is contextual. It varies from person-to-person, and situation to situation. A guy who is recovering from prolonged illness could be vulnerable to mental weakness due to intake of medicines or surgeries to avoid the spread of a cause of disease.

A feeble person with a low intake of energizing food or supplements could be susceptible to mental weakness.

Likewise, anybody who has been through neurosurgery could show signs of mental weakness.

Or,

An old man who asks his grandchild about his eyeglasses 8 times a day while holding them in his right hand could be an example of mental weakness.

But, all of these four examples express that mental weakness is invariably connected to a reason which is perceptible and tangible.

But, if youโ€™re looking for an answer with perspectives of psychology then the answer would be the direct opposite of whatever has been taught to us

For example, if someone acts peevishly with friends, neighbors, or colleagues then mental strength or weakness has nothing to do here. It is purely a flawed character.

Similarly, being forgetful isnโ€™t necessarily a sign of mental weakness - It could be due to disorganized routines.

So, you need to be pretty clear about what youโ€™re calling signs of mental weakness?

Anyways,

I believe the following are the 4 signs of mental weakness. Most importantly, they will help you understand how they keep us in shackles - psychologically and physiologically.

Overthinking is Big Distraction, Massive Destruction of Opportunities.

To unfold the mystery of โ€˜Overthinkingโ€™, I want to call the use of it โ€˜Arbitraryโ€™. It is a blessing and a curse at the same time. And, are you wondering how? Look it is overthinking which gets you to jump out of your bed in the morning to reach your classroom earlier to save time but also it keeps you up late at night because you worry to not miss an important point while youโ€™d be in the exam hall.

Letโ€™s look at overthinking from a physiology point of view:

To understand the true story of overthinking; youโ€™ll have to meet four characters that play their Oscar-worthy roles every second in everybodyโ€™s mind anywhere anytime:

1โ€“ Dopamine - It is a personal coach in this story. He is a full-time employee and never gets tired of his duty of motivating any human and produces feelings of risk and reward. Every time, you get caught in a fight or flight moment, consider it as dopamine in action.

2- Adrenaline โ€“ It is an uncanny resemblance of โ€˜Three Witchesโ€™ in a Shakespeare play named โ€˜Macbethโ€™. If you let loose of it - It will increase your heart rate and blood pressure. So, be careful before Three-Witches make stratagem to destroy your inner peace.

3-ย Serotoninย - A protagonist of a story whose work is to bring happiness and lead you to inner peace. It fights like a warrior: Bruised but brave.

4- Cortisol - An antagonist for the brain. It is the main reason for unhealthy overthinking.

By the way, Serotonin and Cortisol canโ€™t sit in a room together. They canโ€™t be together. And, Cortisol is very cunning in its maneuvering that it releases itself into a region located in proximity to the center of the brain known as the Hypothalamus. Thatโ€™s why; almost everybody is inclined to overthink because our enemy hits our epicenter with ease.

But, you donโ€™t need to worry at allย ( Dear Quora Readers); Iโ€™m going to share a couple of tricks to program your brain to block Cortisol from destroying your mental strength:

a - Change the Chemical Structure of your Brain.

Cortisol has stormtroopers to infiltrate your brain known as โ€˜Cortisol Receptorsโ€™. Block them before they reach your threshold. Once, youโ€™re successful in thwarting Cortisol Receptors, Cortisol loses its power by half to damage your mental peace.

b - Change the Physical Structure of your Brain.

Research has found that an area of your brain called theย orbitofrontal cortex, located just behind your eyes and in front of theย hypothalamus,ย is associated with stress levels. Those with a thicker orbitofrontal cortex on the left side have higher levels of optimism and less anxiety. So, instead of having to directly face the cortisol villain yourself, you can combat its negative effects by modifying another structure in your brain.

There could be many other signs of being mentally weak possibly i.e., boredom, fatigue, and anxiety, etc.

But I will rank โ€˜Overthinkingโ€™ as only a reason and sign of being mentally weak.

Always remember: โ€˜Overthinkingโ€™ slows down and somebody passes you.

So, get rid of overthinking and speed up to reach your destiny.

Thank you. Don't forget to share with your friends and family.

Confidence People NEVER Do this 15 Things their daily life !

Many people would agree that confidence is more important than any other characteristic when it comes to success. You can look good, but you will not get far if you donโ€™t feel good about yourself. Finally, who will believe in you if you donโ€™t believe in yourself? It takes courage to walk with confidence, but the good thing is that anyone can do it if they try hard enough and high confidence is crucial to success.

What exactly makes highly confident people more successful than others?

  1. They take action instead of finding excuses:

People who are confident know that theyโ€™re to blame if something happens and they never look for excuses when dealing with problems. They know that nothing is perfect and thatโ€™s okay. They wouldnโ€™t panic the minute after the new problem arises. Instead, they would start taking actions and search for a solution.
  1. They are not afraid to try and take risks:

โ€œFear kills more dreams than failure ever will.โ€ People who believe in themselves also believe in their dreams and want to see them realized. Thus, they wonโ€™t let fear control their life. They are bold enough to take risks in order to win.
  1. They constantly do something that makes them leave their comfort zone:

They say life starts when you leave your comfort zone. If we judge by the most successful people today, we can say thatโ€™s true. Take any successful person and you will see that they are doing many different things instead of focusing on only one thing. People who have confidence constantly try new things that make them leave their comfort zone. Confidence people challenge themselves to be the best person they could be.
  1. They donโ€™t postpone or procrastinate:

There will never be the โ€œright timeโ€ to work, so itโ€™s always better to finish the tasks earlier than later. Most successful people donโ€™t procrastinate but work. Highly confident people recognize the importance of taking action fast and act immediately. Thatโ€™s what makes them efficient workers.
  1. They donโ€™t care for othersโ€™ opinions:

Highly confident people see the difference between taking someoneโ€™s advice and just listening to othersโ€™ opinions. They know that there are toxic people out there who feel jealous of their success and that they canโ€™t afford to care for their opinions.
  1. They donโ€™t want to be judged and donโ€™t judge:

Just as they know that true friends would never judge them for being who they are, they would never judge their friends for their actions and behaviour. Highly confident people focus on their life and improving themselves, not others. By becoming the best version of themselves, they even serve as motivation for the rest.
  1. They are resourceful:

Because they believe in themselves, they are not afraid to use any available resource that could help them achieve anything. Highly confident people think outside of the box and use many resources to succeed. It is important for them to reach their goal and theyโ€™re not afraid to use unconventional methods in the process. In the end, you canโ€™t win if you donโ€™t try, right?
  1. They focus on their accomplishments only:

Instead of comparing themselves to others, they try to focus on their work only. They know that everyone is having some kind of problems and that even they themselves can be difficult to be understood by the rest. Also Read: Lessons about life before turning first big milestone you should learning Success doesnโ€™t require speed. It requests slowness. What is the future of data science? What to start with?
  1. They are aware that some people simply donโ€™t like them:

Highly confident people know that everyone cannot like them and think positive of them. Thus, they donโ€™t try to impress others. They donโ€™t need to be praised to know their value. This also helps them build better relationships with others.
  1. They know they canโ€™t control everything:

They donโ€™t ask for constant support in everything they do. Life doesnโ€™t always happen according to the rules and you canโ€™t control every situation, no matter how hard you try. Instead, highly confident people choose to deal with any problem in a relaxed and positive manner. Even when they believe in something and the others donโ€™t, they donโ€™t quit just because of the others.
  1. They face their issues boldly:

Whenever a problem occurs, many people would stress about it for days, but not a highly confident person. They are not afraid to attack the enemy immediately and they know that fast action is better than late action. Postponing the issue will only worsen the situation and cause stress.
  1. They donโ€™t allow setbacks to break them:

The road to success is full of obstacles and if we quit after the first obstacle, we will never succeed. This is a universal truth when it comes to succeeding in life. Failure is just a part of success. Highly confident people know that, so they donโ€™t allow obstacles to kill their motivation. They are confident enough to believe in their plan and work on finding the solution whenever there is an issue. Remember that even Steve Jobs and Bill Gates have had obstacles at the beginning.

They donโ€™t wait for others to take action. If they want something to be changed and improved, they will take action and improve it. They are not afraid to make initiatives in work and life.

There are no limits for them. On the way to success, they are always reaching for more because they donโ€™t doubt themselves or think that they have done enough. They are always aspiring for something bigger and they always get it, sooner or later.
  1. They donโ€™t blindly believe in everything they hear:

They donโ€™t believe everything they read on the web or hear from others. They always think critically and double-check the facts before they take action. Sony 7 million cameras were removed from the market to

Short:ย In 1998, Sony accidentally released a Night Vision camcorder that had the ability to see through peopleโ€™s clothes.

The situation was discovered by Greg Hunter who demonstrated the same with the help of two volunteer models. It was in 1998 when the Japanese electronics giant Sony was careless enough to release 700,000 camcorders that had the adroitness to see through peopleโ€™s clothes.

When Sony get to realise:

As soon as Sony realized what havoc it had caused, the camcorders were immediately recalled. The camcorders having a visual appearance similar to a normal were equipped with a lens that uses IR (Infrared Rays) to allow a person to take pictures in the dark, termed as Night Vision. Dark clothes like swimsuits went transparent in front of those camcorders and it was in no matter of time, nude pictures of ladies were trending on the internet. โ€œAt least 12 Web sites feature pictures of women who look almost naked, even though they are wearing clothes or a swimsuit,โ€ writes ABC. The see-through power in Sonyโ€™s camcorder was discovered by Greg Hunter, who was the Customer Correspondent at Good Morning America back in 1998. Hunter demonstrated how the camcorder was comfortable enough to peep inside the clothes of two volunteer models. A man who had a tattoo โ€œSosaโ€ under his shirt and a woman who was wearing nothing under her black patterned skirt. Sony tried to ameliorate the situation by launching new camcorders that lacked see-through powers, but people were eager enough to find new ways to revamp the camcorder and impart see-through powers, which was done by the use of special filters.

Such camcorders went on sale for as high as $700.

However, Sony was bold enough to take no responsibility for those modified camcorders. Questions about the legal offences as a consequence of widespread use of the Sony camcorders were raised, that the judicial system was incompetent to deal with such situations, as no law could be used to charge such offenders. Although, wearing clothes does come under an individualโ€™s privacy.

Itโ€™s an outrage โ€” I think it would outrage anyone.

You go out in the street you donโ€™t expect people to look under your clothes.
Itโ€™s such a basic expectation that any court in the country would find that this violates that right.
